About Alligator

Alligator is a manufacturer and importer of custom designed promotional product. The company was formed in 1954, primarily as a manufacturer of all types of bags. In 1988, the company was acquired by the Marks family who to this day, continue to be involved in the day to day management of the company. In 2008 Sandy Naidoo joined the management team to head up the Johannesburg operation and today, Alligator has grown to 150+ full time employees.

Alligator is a service based company and all our customers are guaranteed to receive the highest service levels from all our staff. We are committed to the development of a diversified range of custom designed, quality products at a competitive price whether locally manufactured or imported, and to on time delivery every time. Our customers range across all sectors of the market including major corporate companies, national retailers, small retailers and government. In 1995, Alligator won the bag tender licence for the Rugby World Cup held in South Africa. Due to production capacity restraints we had no choice but to investigate China to assist with the huge demand for our product. We were fortunate to do business with a company in China that had the same values as we did and to this day we have enjoyed a successful hard working Joint Venture relationship.

We share office space and production capacity in a state of the art factory which was built to service many high profile multi-national companies. This relationship offers us tremendous flexibility as we have access to 3000 square metres of warehouse space in China which allows us to pack and co-load product prior to shipment to maximise logistical cost savings.

Our offices based in Hong Kong and China assist in the sourcing of many different product categories to ensure we work only with the best suppliers. Other functions of the offices include quality control throughout the production process, 3rd party inspections, ethical reporting and on time shipment. These offices have been a key to our success.

In South Africa, we have two major facilities in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The Cape Town facility houses our Head office admin block, as well as our bag manufacturing plant, including in-house branding and warehouse space. The premises are approximately 9000 square metres of which 5000 square metres is under roof. The admin building boasts two major showrooms on more than 600 square metres of floor space where every product you can imagine is on display. The showrooms allow us to service briefs efficiently and correctly and more importantly they allow our customers to look and feel and make good decisions. The Johannesburg facility is secure and well located in Midrand. The premises consist of approximately 1400 square metres and house offices, showrooms and warehousing.
